Why do self paced learning?

Fit professional development into your busy schedule

As we slide back into hybrid work schedules, self paced learning is more important that ever. When we’re in the office, the hours are filled with meetings and hallway conversations—often the webinar we signed up for gets lost in shuffle of the impromptu meetings.

Then, when we’re working at home, we’re catching up on all the work that was lost while at the office.

How do you fit in time for professional development?

I love to create self-paced online courses so that busy professionals can squeeze in a lesson here and there when they have a moment. Personally, I prefer to keep my Fridays meeting-free so I can spend time taking courses, listening to podcasts, reading articles, and chatting with colleagues to grow my skills and stay up-to-date with the latest trends in my field. As leader, it is equally important to know the larger ecosystem trends as much as what is going on in your individual nonprofit.

The challenge is always—time.

Benefits of Self Paced Learning

  • Start and stop any time that works for you
  • Engage in multi-media lessons that work for different types of learners
  • Refer back to the lessons over and over to deepen learning
  • Access downloadable resources to continue developing new skills
  • Private learning without being observed in a Zoom or in-person setting
  • No need to block off time on your calendar
  • Learn anywhere: your bed, on the beach, or a cabin in the woods! All you need is wifi
  • Cheaper than a regular course!

Self-paced online courses are also great for building a solid foundation of skills before you take a live webinar or in-person class so that you feel more confident.
